Preserving traditions, shaping sustainable futures

Some of Sri Lanka’s most meaningful places of faith exist quietly, serving their communities with very little recognition or resources. Api Yamu Pansal was created to reach these temples, understand their needs, and help them continue the work they do for their devotees and surrounding communities.

As part of Blue Lanka Tours’ commitment to the SDG Goals, the initiative begins with listening. Our team visits temples and assesses their circumstances, identifying the areas where support can make the greatest difference. From essential supplies and dry rations to support for Poya Day activities, assistance is provided based on each temple’s needs. On Poya days, the initiative also extends to those who gather at these temples. Alms are offered to devotees, helping make these sacred days a little more comfortable for communities that may have limited resources.

But Api Yamu Pansal is not just about giving. It is also about creating awareness. By bringing attention to temples and locations that may otherwise remain unknown beyond their immediate communities, we hope to create a platform where others can discover these places, understand their needs, and find opportunities to contribute.

Through every visit, every offering and every connection, Api Yamu Pansal seeks to build a culture of shared responsibility, where those who have the means to help can find those who need it most.

A message from the Managing Director

– Mr. Dinesh N Perera

As a travel agency, we are fortunate to take people to some of the most meaningful cultural and spiritual places across Sri Lanka. We believe it is our responsibility not only to introduce these places to others, but also to give back to them in whatever way we can.

Api Yamu Pansal is an expression of that responsibility. On every Poya Day, our entire team comes together with commitment and genuine passion to support places that need it, while taking a moment to pause, reconnect and find spiritual peace after a month of hard work.

For us, giving back is not an obligation. It is a privilege.

The Impact This Initiative Has Done

Api Yamu Pansal has taken Blue Lanka Tours beyond the familiar and into communities that are often overlooked. By visiting temples, understanding their circumstances and documenting their needs, the initiative has helped bring visibility to places that quietly serve their devotees with limited resources. Each visit creates an opportunity for these temples to be seen, recognised and supported by a wider community.

For the temples and devotees reached through the initiative, support is not just a gesture — it meets real needs. Dry rations, essential supplies and Poya Day alms provide practical assistance to temples while extending care to the people who gather there. By responding to what each location genuinely needs, Api Yamu Pansal ensures that every contribution has a purpose and reaches those who can benefit from it most.

Perhaps the greatest impact is the connection the initiative creates. By shining a light on temples that need support, Api Yamu Pansal gives others the opportunity to become part of their story. What begins as one visit by the Blue Lanka Tours team can lead to greater awareness, new relationships and continued support from others. In this way, the initiative aims not only to give today, but to build a lasting circle of compassion around communities that need it.
