Adam’s Peak

The 2243m tall mountain in the central highlands of Sri Lanka has the sacred footprint revered by all religions. Climbing it in the night is the tradition to catch the most imposing sunrise in the whole of Asia.

East coast

The east coast, especially Trincomalee and Pasikudah, offers top-notch scuba diving, tranquil coves for snorkelling through reefs, and sailing. It is also home to Pigeon Island marine national park.

Arugam Bay

Sri Lanka’s No.1 surf spot is also one of the world’s best. The Main Point is the most popular, and it is a right-hand point break, powered by a reef bottom. July to September sees the arrival of the best waves.

Kalpitiya

Kapitiya peninsula in the northwest is considered the island’s best kitesurfing spot. It also has ideal conditions for windsurfing, snorkelling, scuba diving, water skiing, paddle boarding, and kayaking.

Kitulgala

It is Sri Lanka’s white water rafting haven. Stretch of Kelani River in Kitulgala provides varying levels of white water rafting and canoeing opportunities. ‘The Bridge on the River Kwai’ was filmed here.

Wilpattu National Park

Wilpattu is Sri Lanka’s biggest national park and features nearly 106 lakes. It is a major Sri Lanka safari tour destination and home to leopards and elephants.

Horton Plains National Park

Its sweeping plains almost look like the English countryside, thus the moniker ‘Little England.” The main feature of the Park is World’s End, an 800m drop with views of the valley below.

Sinharaja Biosphere

It is Sri Lanka’s last remaining rainforest and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are more than 50% endemic species of animals and plants here, and half of these are rare.

Udawalawe National Park

Marked by the Great Uda Walawe Reservoir, the open plains of the Park contain a staggering number of elephants. They congregate at the reservoir for water.
