Situated on a ridge near Anniewatte, the Sir David Lean Bungalow of the Elephant Stables is around 4 km distant from the main hotel. It occupies the whole east wing of one of the most significant colonial bungalows in Kandy and was utilised to film key sequences for the epic warfare film The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957), directed by Sir David Lean.
