Nilambe Buddhist Meditation Centre
Tucked in Kandy’s hills, Nilambe Meditation Centre began in the late 1970s when friends, led by Mr. Ratnayaka, meditated at Peradeniya University. After vacating, Mr. P. B. Alahakoon funded a new centre. Opened with a course by Jack Kornfield and Joseph Goldstein, it grew under Godwin Samararatna’s gentle guidance. With a simple hall and kitchen, it offers serene retreats. Now a renowned haven, it draws global meditators, who rate its tranquil setting 9.0 for reflective stays.
