To begin your Sri Lanka holiday, journey to Kandy – the last Sinhalese kingdom. Along the way, stop at Pinnawala elephant orphanage to show some love and care to abandoned, injured Asian elephants including baby elephants. Treat your eyes with playful activities of these adorable creatures like bathing, feeding, engaging in mischief and more.

In the evening visit Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Tooth, which houses the country’s most sacred relic: a tooth said to belong to the Gautama Buddha. Wander in the busy streets of Kandy and around the lake before checking-into your hotel.

Sigiriya

Rise early and enjoy a tasteful breakfast at the hotel. Leave to Sigiriya enthusiastically as you are going to discover two of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Sri Lanka on this day.

Step into cave temple complex in Dambulla on your way, spreads through five caves that features thousands of metres of painted walls containing more than 150 images of Lord Buddha, as well as other deities and Sri Lankan kings. It is also stated that, once this place has been served as dwellings for prehistoric Sri Lankans before the arrival of Buddhism.

Continue your ride to Sigiriya. Upon reaching, get ready to climb the 5th century rock fortress and explore the ancient citadel built on top of this 200 meters tall rock by king Kashyapa. Once you get on the top, enjoy breathtaking views over the surrounding landscape. Spend overnight at a hotel in Sigiriya and have restful sleep prior to departure.
