How they experienced it
I came to Sri Lanka on a solo trip (going to Maldives after on way home) from San Francisco. I booked a 13n/14d tour going through the Cultural Triangle -History, couple of days in Knuckles range – Outdoors, then down through Hill Country and then to South Coast – Animals. It pays to research the different areas of the country to match your desires. I traded off some of the archaeology parts for outdoor adventure because I enjoy it more and have learned I have a ‘museum tolerance’ level that is mid-range at best.
Lasantha was my driver/guide and his knowledge was outstanding regardless of what area we were visiting. Besides Sri Lanka info I enjoyed bantering with him just about life stuff in general. I am glad I booked a tour with a local company instead of a company that just rebooks through other companies. A few hiccups came up during my trip (as can be expected) and Lasantha was able to work with the main office to quickly work things out. Also, Lasantha seemed to have good rapport with local folks wherever we went – the type of positive interactions that speaks to one’s character.
