When researching tourist hotspots in Sri Lanka, you must have surely come across the Unawatuna Beach, close to Galle town. A short drive further ahead from Unawatuna Beach is the Dalawella Beach, which is a famous Sri Lanka tourism hotspot on social media platforms particularly for the rope swing that is made hanging from a coconut tree branch.

This part of the south coast of Sri Lanka is just a two hour drive from Colombo. The Dalawella Beach swing is found on the beachfront, exactly outside the Dream Cabana guesthouse. The owners of Dream Cabana built this rope swing as something fun for themselves. Little did they imagine that it would turn out to be one of the most talked about spots in Sri Lanka!

There are many such places that have become viral travel hotspots overnight. Dalawella Beach Swing has rapidly gained popularity on Instagram over the last couple of years, convincing travelers to add this to their ‘best places to visit in Sri Lanka’ list, thus making it a prime example of a social media hotspot.

The beautiful strip of sand, the low bending palm trees and the rope swing is what gives the area its name – Dalawella. A small fee is charged in exchange for some time spent on the popular rope swing. Don’t forget to capture the moment with its picture perfect backdrops and upload it on your favorite social media network!

When you visit this beach and want to enjoy a few swings, talk to the cabana owners in their hut, buy a drink or two for respect or just give them a small fee in exchange for some time on the swing. Slightly towards the left of the rope swing is a frog like rock, which also makes for a pretty cool photo spot, offering undisturbed views of a colorful sunset.

The waters along the Dalawella stretch are calm and absolutely safe for swimming, so you could spend a fun afternoon here enjoying a good swim and a long stroll on this beautiful beach.

Galle and Unawatuna are the closest places to choose your accommodation if you want to spend some time on the Dalawella Beach.
